An exciting thing happened today. Eric and I were out doing our garden tour and photographing some of the flowers when we noticed a skirmish by one of the bluebird houses that Sandie gave us. It was some sparrows trying to chase off a pair of bluebirds! They gave up fairly quickly, especially since we were so close. The bluebirds weren't particularly disturbed by us. So, we took advantage of the diversion to empty nest boxes on the other side of the house of sparrow nests and eggs. We then hung out and took a few photos as they flitted around the mirrors on Hottie and the vanagon. We are so excited to have a pair here! Thank you again, Sandie!
Three years ago, I had surgery in April. Once I was feeling well enough to eat some real food and have some company, my wonderful friend Lisa visited and brought some fabulous food from Thai Pastry. We cracked up over the suspect deserts. We're both willing to try stuff that we can't identify and one of them was this molded yellow gelatinous stuff. It had a flake of gold leaf on the top of each piece. After taking a bite, I was looking around, trying to figure out which candle had gone out. Lisa had the same reaction. It turns out, it actually tasted the way a candle smells when it is snuffed out. She also brought me these beautiful tulips. They've been blooming for about a week and they are quite special. I check them out every morning and then giggle over the mystery desert.More photos are here.

Maybe we should put rearview mirrors on the nest boxes, seeing how they like them so much..LOL
He'd spend so much time preening, nothing else would happen.
