This past weekend, Eric and I did a little junk shop shopping. As always, I am a sucker for vintage sewing accessories. Who could pass up these manly Swagger Pearls? This is a complete card of mother-of-pearl buttons. I don't generally see notions that are marketed for men. Or more accurately: marketed for women to buy for men. I have no idea what the vintage of these is. But, I see the copyright C is in use on the package, perhaps that offers some clue. I also picked up this wonderful 1924 edition of Drafting and Pattern Designing. It isn't all that in depth. But, it does show the usage of a now unusual sloper and the illustrations are wonderful. As nice as the clothes in it are; it has some fabulous aprons. It has a child's apron that is about the cutest thing, ever. I just couldn't say "no".

Based on the fonts and the style of the guy, I'd say the art deco era. The 'swagger' font is really art deco.
The guy and the font do look older. But, the use of the copyright C says it is newer, with and older style.
Also, I am eyeing the way that the buttons are attached with staples. This is also a newer device. Generally, on older packages, they would have been sewn. The buttons are also backed by a foiled paper. I don't think I've ever seen a paper like that on packaging for something like this pre-war. I think these are a post-war product.
